Mitchel Jones joined the firm in 2011. His practice focuses on the drafting and prosecution of foreign and domestic applications involving semiconductor manufacturing. Prior to joining Patterson & Sheridan, Mitchel was an associate at an intellectual property firm in Chicago, Illinois, where he handled patent prosecution matters involving technologies such as fuel cells, photovoltaics, biomedical imaging, DNA-based sensors, and chemical processing methods.
While studying materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois, Mitchel concentrated in the field of electronic materials. His coursework included the study of semiconductor physics, integrated circuit fabrication and device design, and optoelectronics, including solar cells and light-emitting diodes (LED). In his final year as an undergraduate, Mitchel researched organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and semiconductor thin film growth.
In law school, Mitchel was named a Harno Scholar after excelling in courses including Patent Prosecution, Antitrust Law, Copyright Law, and Trial Advocacy. Mitchel also participated in the Giles S. Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court competition and received awards for top academic performance in Legal Writing and Legal Remedies.
