Todd Patterson is a founding member of the firm. He currently manages many of the firm's major clients in the electronic, software, information science, e-commerce and medical device technologies. He practices patent, copyright, and trademark law with an emphasis on semiconductor processing, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and related software applications. His biotechnology experience includes areas of pharmaceutical-releasing medical devices, immunotherapy and vaccine development, genome research, biological microarrays, specialty chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Todd oversees the firm's intellectual property litigation group, which specializes in patent and trademark litigation. Todd's experience includes litigating patents in technologies such as cable modems and computer networks; medical devices and procedures; business and financial methods; and oil field equipment and services. Todd also counsels clients in the strategic use of the reexamination process, and he regularly performs pre-litigation assessments.
Todd is also very experienced in intellectual property transactional matters including preparation and drafting of opinions and licensing transactions. He is also skilled at conducting due diligence for the intellectual property portfolios of clients involved in early or later stage funding transactions as well as with various kinds of asset or corporate acquisitions.
Todd is a well-respected authority in the field of patenting software, e-commerce and information science technology. He has written a number of articles for regional and national publications on intellectual property topics. Todd currently serves as managing partner of the firm.
